Jack Marcin Wisniewski is a Brooklyn-born guitarist and composer whose musical journey began with a rescued guitar in 2000. He earned a Master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the City University of New York and received a Fulbright Scholarship for music therapy research in Switzerland, where he collaborated with the Orchestra Mangolinistica di Lugano. As the bandleader of Grupo Aurora, he has been a vital force in New York's Latin music scene, blending traditional and contemporary sounds. In 2024, he completed a world tour through Switzerland, the USA, and Poland, submitted his recording Lágrima for Grammy nomination, and released his first CD, Clásico. His work has involved collaborations with the Polish Consulate in New York and the Kosciuszko Foundation, showcasing his dedication to cultural diplomacy through music.
Jack Marcin’s musical journey began in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000 with the unexpected rescue of a discarded guitar. Guided by curiosity, he quickly cultivated a distinct sound, learning the art through countless hours spent in New York's music shops. In 2008, he formally pursued his passion at the City University of New York, where he completed his Master’s degree in classical guitar performance in 2012. Marcin’s career took an international turn when he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, allowing him to research music therapy at the Swiss Mountain Clinic. While in Switzerland, he established deep connections within the music community, composing and conducting for the Orchestra Mangolinistica di Lugano. Returning to New York, Marcin dove back into the city’s dynamic music scene. He joined the Music Under New York (MUNY) program and co-founded The F-Tones, releasing their first album in 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he collaborated with six-time Grammy Award-winner Arturo O’Farrill, expanding his stylistic reach. As the bandleader of Grupo Aurora, he became a driving force in New York’s Latin music scene, blending traditional and contemporary sounds and earning the title El Polaco de la Bachata. In 2024, Marcin embarked on a world tour that spanned Switzerland, the USA, and Poland, further solidifying his international presence. He also submitted his recording Lágrima for Grammy nomination and released his first CD, Clásico. Following a successful tour in Poland, he received an invitation to collaborate and perform with the Kosciuszko Foundation at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York, showcasing his dedication to fostering cross-cultural connections through music. His work extends to cultural diplomacy, having performed in collaboration with prominent organizations such as the Polish Consulate in New York and the Kosciuszko Foundation. These collaborations underscore his commitment to bridging cultural divides through the universal language of music. The pandemic reignited Marcin’s passion for solo composition, leading him to release new music under his full name, Jack Marcin Wisniewski. His experiences as a Polish immigrant profoundly influence his sound, infusing Latin, classical, and rock genres with a global perspective. As the musical director of Grupo Aurora, he continues to innovate within New York’s music scene.
